Step-by-Step Guide to Moldflow Analysis for Beginners
Moldflow analysis is essential for optimizing injection molding processes and part quality. Here’s a simple step-by-step guide for beginners.
1. Prepare the CAD Model
- Clean up geometry and remove unnecessary details
- Check for gaps, overlaps, and ensure the model is watertight
2. Generate the Mesh
- Select the appropriate mesh type (Dual Domain, 3D, etc.)
- Refine mesh in critical areas for better accuracy
3. Set Up the Simulation
- Choose the resin from the material database
- Set gate locations, runner system, and cooling channels
- Input process parameters (temperature, pressure, etc.)
4. Run the Analysis
- Perform filling, packing, cooling, and warpage simulations
- Check for errors or warnings in the solver log
5. Interpret the Results
- Review flow fronts, pressure, temperature, and warpage plots
- If defects are predicted, adjust design or process parameters
6. Optimize and Iterate
- Repeat simulation with improved settings until optimal results are achieved
